What Flying Start gives you
Flying Start offers 12.5 hours a week of free, quality childcare for eligible 2 year olds, usually for 39 weeks of the year, plus health visiting support, parenting programmes and speech and language help. It is aimed at families living in specific areas, and Welsh Government has been expanding it to more postcodes.
Eligibility is by address, not income. Check your postcode with Cardiff Council or Newport City Council, or ask your health visitor — they can refer you directly.
How it works alongside our sessions
Families often use their Flying Start hours as two or three mornings with us and pay for extra sessions around them. When your child turns three, the Childcare Offer usually takes over from the term after their birthday, so there is no gap in your place.
