Our own forest school area on site at Oak House — mud, fire, food growing and woodland play, for outdoor learning in all weathers.
Learning outdoors, every day
Forest school isn't a weekly trip for us — it's part of the ordinary day. Children choose to be outside in all weathers, with staff alongside them naming, questioning and singing in Welsh.
Risky play is planned and supervised: children learn to use real tools, manage the fire pit safely and look after living things, from herbs to hens.
It builds exactly what the Curriculum for Wales asks for: healthy, confident, capable children who are curious about the world around them.

Featured forest school activities
A taste of what your child will get up to outdoors at our Newport nursery.
Vegetable & herb garden
Children help to sow, water and pick vegetables and herbs in the forest school. Our fresh produce is then used by the kitchen and in activities.
Potions & mud kitchen
Pestle, mortar, petals and herbs. Mixing potions in the mud kitchen builds fine motor skills, curiosity and a rich Welsh vocabulary for smell, texture and colour.
Compost toilet facilities
Our eco-friendly compost toilet helps children learn about sustainability, water conservation and caring for the environment while they play outdoors.
Fire pit and tools
Under close supervision, children learn to manage a real fire pit and use simple tools — building confidence, responsibility and exploring risky play.
Our nursery hens
Children incubated eggs at the nursery and our chicks now live in the forest school and are looked after by staff and children.
