Play is the curriculum
The Curriculum for Wales sets out six areas of learning and experience, and for the youngest children they are all delivered through play: mud kitchens for science and maths, den building for design, story time and song for language.
The four purposes
Everything works towards children becoming ambitious capable learners, enterprising creative contributors, ethical informed citizens and healthy confident individuals. In practice that means letting children choose, try, get it wrong and try again.
How we record progress
Practitioners observe children in play and record short notes and photos in our family app, so you can see what your child has been exploring. We share a summary with you at parent meetings and before a child moves room or starts school.
